music is life, music is breath, music is us

Jeff Beck “Drown in My Own Tears”

Although his counterparts Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page received greater fame, Jeff Beck is arguably just as innovative. Rock guitarists everywhere (include modern-day viruosi like Steve Vai) credit Beck as a massive inspiration. Listen to his fluid technique and you’ll see why.

I finally had the opportunity to see Jeff in concert a few years ago and I wasn’t disppointed. While Page and Clapton stayed rooted in the blues, Jeff took his own direction and really took the guitar to a new level. Listen to “Wired” for some great fusion. Incredibly, he never uses a pick – just his fingers to pull those notes out of his axe!

  2. Yeah I’m a rock guitarist myself, but I HAVE to use a pick, I have no idea how Beck does what he does finger-picking only haha
