music is life, music is breath, music is us

RIP Ravi Shankar

I found out today, to great sadness, that the man who introduced the west to classical Indian music had passed on. I could write pages on the dedication Ravi Shankar had to his craft, and the grace he showed in explaining it to an audience that was ignorant of it. Ravi Shankar’s music was my very first introduction to ethnomusicology all those years ago in high school, so I owe him much as a human being. Music will never be the same, we will never forget you Ravi.
