music is life, music is breath, music is us

Writing a book is strange…

It’s funny, when I set out to do this book on music I had no idea what I was getting into. The more I get into it though, the more I realize I should have done this a long time ago. The book is really an extension of what I do here at Mixolydian, that is, having an eclectic and far-reaching focus on music as I see it. The same writing style is present, as are the topic choices. I’m really having to dig deep at times to find the words (then again, that could just be due to the fact I recently finished finals at UCLA haha). Truth be told, I would have never began if it wasn’t for you all. The kind of response I have had, and the kind of people (from all walks of life) that I have gotten a chance to speak to via this blog really pushed me to do this. I want everyone to dialogue about music, because I know for a fact that the best discussions can be found there. Someday I will finish my work, and then present it to you all, I can’t wait.

  1. speaking of music.. i heard something the other day on a tv show of all places that’s stuck with me. “When the passion in life is too much: sing, when it’s too much to sing: dance.”

  3. haiya :). Thanks for the wishes, my book is a collection of my thoughts about music (think a book that is a collection of essays as opposed to one linear theme). It is much like what I am doing here on this blog. Glad you like Paperback Hero, they are a really awesome LA band.
