  1. When I listened to this I assumed that it was a product of the original punk era, so I was slightly surprised to discover that Rancid are a more recent phenomenon. I grew up in the punk era, but was largely indifferent to it, mainly because, for all its drive and vehemence, the music tended to be four-square and uninventive; even more unsophisticated than the bland, MOR fare that it was supposedly, in part at least, to be a reaction against (this is a generalisation, of course, there were some punk bands doing genuinely experimental things). But I did like this (despite myself). The crisp off-beat guitar chords are enlivening, and the bass playing is pleasingly sprightly (so many of the “original” punk bands employed drearily repetitive bass-lines) and the (all too short) instrumental section includes some unexpected changes. Very nice. Thanks for sharing. I’ve listened to it a couple of times already, and might give it another try. This time, I might even dance.

    • Hey glad you liked it. Rancid are kind of a punk/ska fusion so their sound is always evolving.
