So SoCal is getting much needed rain (we are in an extreme drought). Bad news is that the weather system is so extreme it may cause tornado touchdowns (rare to California). So, lemme post this in case I can’t later on account of the fact I’ve been flung into the Pacific Ocean by a funnel cloud….
On vox and guitar I’m covering one of the most iconic songs of all time (most associated with one of the most iconic films of all time). What could possibly go wrong?
Paco was my earliest exposure to true virtuosity in Flamenco and other acoustic styles. As a young teenager heavily interested in “dudes that could shred,” I was blown away in my fledgling musical understanding at his virtuosity. As I matured in life and music, I kept coming back to Paco as a sheer admirer of his soulful playing. His death came as a surprise to all of us. Death is never easy, but it is especially difficult when a person seems robbed of many more years of life. We have your recordings Paco, but we will never know what more you could have done. The joy your gift brought us, especially those who play guitar, will continue to exist. Vaya con Diós amigo.
If you love Office Space, you’ll get the references. Also just a great song about moving the f#$#$ on.
“Well, life is a test, and I get bad marks
Now some saint got the job of writin’ down my sins
The storm is comin’ – the storm is coming in”
